Donald Trump signed an executive order to cut American public broadcasters NPR, PBS funding, called them ‘biased’ and ‘vok’

US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order with the aim of snatching public funds from NPR and PBS, calling two public broadcasters “biased” and “vok”.
The order directs the corporation to the public broadcasting (CPB) – which receives more than $ 500 million per annum from the Congress – “Avoid future financial assistance for NPR and PBS to cancel the existing direct funding to the maximum extent allowed by the law.
“The approach that promotes NPR and PBS does not matter,” the order states.
The order states that what is the matter that neither the unit presents the fair, accurate or fair illustration of current events to the citizens.
Announcing the move, in a social media post, the White House claimed that broadcasters “used millions of people from taxpayers for campaigning as radical, ‘news’.”
The statement said, “NPR and PBS have promoted biased and left -wing propaganda with taxpayers dollars, which is highly inappropriate and an inappropriate use of taxpayers’ money, as President Trump said,” the statement said.
Federal funding is currently about 15% of PBS revenue and 1% of NPR. While PBS produces a series of materials, NPR mainly focuses on news and public affairs, according to Politico.
The decision is expected to face legal challenges. The federal courts have earlier ruled against the Trump administration when it tried to withdraw money from other Congress -supported media organizations like Voice of America.
In March, leaders of NPR and PBS defended their funding before the House Committee on Government Efficiency (DOGE).
NPR President and CEO Catherine Maher insisted on the editorial freedom of the organization and asked the MPs to continue their support. “Give us the opportunity to serve American people with this unique and important resource,” he said.
According to the Associated Press, in a public announcement during the last month, PBS CEO Paula Cagger echoed the concerns, warning that many local stations would not be “not present” without federal funds. He emphasized that such tasks would “provide essential service PBS and local member stations to American people.”
“There is nothing more American than PBS, and our job is only possible because bipo -support that we have always received from Congress,” he said.
“This public-private partnership allows us to help prepare millions of children for success in school and life, and also supports the highest quality rich and inspiring programs,” he said.
The Executive Order is part of comprehensive efforts to target the publicly funded media by the Trump administration, including the US agency for global media, which oversees the Voice of America and Radio Free Europe. Those tricks have also faced strong legal and political resistance.
