KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane emphasized the importance of positive cricket in the toss. He accepted the team’s struggles with the bat and called for a brewer approach. “The bowling unit has done well, but our batsmen need to be more fearless,” Rahane said.
This stability carries extra emotional weight, in which Shreyas Iyer returns to the Eden Gardens in opposition colors.
In the last season, Iyer inspired KKR for his first title in ten years. In a surprising off-season judgment, Iyer put his side in PBKS, PrabK, as part of Ricky Ponting’s guidance, in the playoff hunt. He has already scored 263 runs this season, although he comes with a minor dip for the game.
KKR, meanwhile, is desperate to revive his campaign after five defeats in eight matches. His batting lineup lacks consistency, struggling to end with Andre Russell and Rinku Singh. The inclusion of Rowman Powell is expected to inject some very important power in the middle order.
Spin, once the strength of KKR in Eden, has not given expected results in this season, adding their headache. Varun Chakarvardi and Sunil Narin are among the wickets, but have not dominated the matches.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings appear to be more inhabited, which offer balance with young talents like Priyanus Arya and Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal.
KKR should win at least five matches out of the remaining six matches to stay real in the playoff race.
