‘Do not apologize or seek security’: ‘Tamil born Kannada’ to Kamal Haasan from Karnataka HC. Bengaluru News

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday presented some serious questions to actor Kamal Haasan about his controversial remarks that Kannada language originated from Tamil language.Actor, Ragkamal Films International, through Chennai, the producer of the film “Thug Life”, challenged the ban imposed by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, filed a petition and also sought police security for the release and exhibition of the film.Justice M Nagprasana said that in 1950, C Rajagopalachiri made a similar statement, but apologized for this and asked why Kamal Haasan cannot do so. “You (Kamal Hasan) have no right to hurt emotions. In this country, Jala (water), Nela (Bhoomi), and Bhash (Language) are dear to the people. What did the people of Karnataka ask?“Are you a historian, a linguist? On what basis did you speak? If Rajagopalachiri can tender a public forgiveness 75 years ago, why can’t you (Kamal Haasan) do? For your business interest, you have approached this court, demanding police protection for the situation you have created,” Judge said.Justice Nagaprasanna, demanding time to demand instructions for the petitioner for the petitioner, said, “Language is a feeling of land of people. Kannada is a strong language and is not from such statements. Freedom of expression cannot be extended to hurt emotions.”Even superstar Rajinikanth had apologized for his comment about Cauvery Water during the release of the film period, the judge further explained.Earlier, Senior Advocate Dhyan Chinnapa, was present for the petitioner, presented that neither KFCC nor the state government could ban a film for which CBFC has been withdrawn. He further said that there was no intention from the actor to achieve the Kannada language. “The thug life has become a thug,” he explained the whole situation and took a pinch.
