Following the anticipation of the months, ‘Dadhad 2’ starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptty Dimri has finally received approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film has been awarded a U/A certificate – but only the manufacturers agreed to make 16 major editing to address the concerns on political, caste and religious sensitivity.
Political and religious adjustment
As reported by DNA India, one of the major areas that CBFC flagged was a politically sensitive dialogue. A line was modified with a clear political undertaking to avoid any direct or indirect context for public figures. Additionally, religious references go through carefully rewording. For example, a line was originally converted into “the work of religion” (it is religious work) to maintain another neutral tone “. A famous couplet by the poet Tulsidas used in a song was also swapped to another poem that focuses on calm resistance rather than provocative imagination.
Caste references and visual changes
Caste-sensitive words were either silent or replaced to ensure that the film did not unknowingly hurt community sentiments. A striking example was originally a conversion in a dialogue, stating that “3,000-year-old backlog would not be approved in only 70 years”, which would not be approved in only 70 years to “age-old discrimination backlog.” A mysterious view, characterized by blind, blue dog, was replaced by removing blue tint, and a scene that insults the father of a character was trimmed to 16 seconds to reduce its intensity.
Violent Scene, Disclaimer and Final withdrawal
A violent scene reflecting an attack on a woman was allegedly replaced with a black screen to reduce visual trauma. In addition, the initial disconnection of the film was increased from 20 seconds to 1 minute and 51 seconds, and is now read loudly for more clarity. Despite all these changes, reports suggest that manufacturers have been careful to preserve the original emotional and social themes of the story.‘Dhadak 2’, which follows a new love story associated with social issues, is the sequel to the 2018 hit ‘Dhadak’, which launched Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khat.
