‘Criminal Act’: North Korea says that ‘serious accident’ warship launches occurred during the ceremony

KCNA reported that North Korea said the accident occurred at a shipyard in the eastern port of Chongjin last day, which took place during a ceremony to start a newly built 5,000 tonnes of destroyer. Citing “inexperience command and operational negligence” during the launch, North Korea stated that there was an accident that “crushed some sections of the lower part of the warship”. Kim, who saw the whole incident, labeled it “criminal task due to complete negligence” and said it was unacceptable.He indicated that people responsible for these “irresponsible errors” would face the results in the upcoming full meeting of the party Central Committee next month.Last month, North Korea introduced another 5,000 -ton destroyer named Cho Hin.The state media showed Kim attending the ceremony with his daughter Ju Ai, which experts consider to be his potential successor.North Korea stated that the vessel had “the most powerful weapons” and would be operational earlier next year.Analysts suggest that the vessel may carry a short distance strategic nuclear missiles, although North Korea has not demonstrated the ability to shorten nuclear weapons.South Korean military officials suggested Russian aid in developing Cho Hin, possibly in exchange for North Korean soldiers supporting Moscow’s struggle with Kiev.The two countries recently started construction of their first connecting road bridge.
