‘Cricketers sent me naked pictures’

New Delhi: Anaya bangarThe daughter of former Indian cricketer and coach Sanjay Bangar recently opened up about “toxic masculinity”, which is prevalent in the world of cricketing. Last year, she first spoke publicly about her journey of change, including hormone replacement therapy and gender-confusion surgery. Earlier, known as Aryan, Anaya followed her father’s footsteps by playing age-group cricket. However, he admitted that continuing his cricket career after the transition came with many challenges.
In an interview with Lallantop, Anaya was asked, “When do you feel that ‘I’m wrongly selected gender?” ,
He replied: “It was for me when I was eight or nine years old, I used to choose clothes from my mother’s cupboard and wore them. Then, I used to look in a mirror and say,” I am a girl. I want to be a girl. “
While reflecting his cricketing journey, Anaya said: “I played with some famous cricketers, such as now Mushir Khan, Sarfaraz Khan, Yashsvi Jaiswal.
He was also asked how fellow cricketers reacted after his gender-confirmation surgery.
“Support has been done as well as some harassment,” Anaya shared.
When he was asked about the way he was in front of him, Anaya revealed: “There are some cricketers who sent me nude photos of him randomly.”
She went to remember further disturbing experiences: “The person used to abuse everyone in front of everyone. The same person then came to me and asked my pictures. There was another example, when I was in India, I told a Purana (veteran) cricketer about my situation. He told me that I want to sleep with you.”
Like his father, who represented India in 12 tests between 2001 and 2004 and 15 Odis, Anaya also played cricket. He has played for Islam Gymkhana in local club cricket and has also represented the Hinkle Cricket Club in Lessesterreshire.
However, in November 2023, International cricketer council (ICC) stopped a new policy Transgender athlete Women participating in international cricket.
The then ICC CEO Geoff Alardis said in a statement, “Inclusion as a sport is incredibly important for us, but our priority was to protect the integrity of international women’s sports and the safety of players.”
Reacting to the decision, Anaya shared a detailed post on Instagram, expressing her disappointment on the new rule.
She currently lives in the United Kingdom.
