New Delhi: Kolkata Police arrested Wasahat Khan Qadri on Monday – complainant in the case against Instagram affected Sharmisha Panoli – in an indecent language case.This BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul and BJP’s BJP’s legal cell member Sanjukta Samanta filed an FIR against Qadri to make communal comments on social media a few days later.The FIR was registered at Balliganj police station and Howrah police station in Kolkata. Qadri is accused of regularly posting communal and inflammatory content online.Additionally, at least seven different complaints have been filed against Qadri, including a single one with the Lalbazar cyber cell. “We are verifying social media content, and will follow further legal action.” Qadri’s account on X has been closed since then.Qadri was “unattainable” since Sunday. His father, Sadak Khan alleged that a “witch hunt” was started against his son after the arrest of Panoli.He also claimed that Qadri’s accounts have been hacked and any religious bias has been denied on his son’s part.“My son is secular. We are receiving danger since Sharmish’s arrest,” he said.Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court on Thursday granted interim bail to Sharisha Panoli. The bench ruled that the FIR did not reveal any cognitive crime against him. A law student, Panoli, was arrested last week in Gurugram, in which a video surfaced in which she criticized Bollywood actors in the context of Operation Sindor.
