Cargo, check-in goods now under CISF scanner. Bharat News

New Delhi: In the midst of the existing increased threat, the government has asked the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to oversee the screening of the cargo and to take care of the check-in items of the passengers. Till now, the airport operator and airlines were taking care of check-in goods and cargo screening. While the CISF pre-boarding passengers in addition to checking its cabin bag, the airport operators and airlines take care of check-in baggage and cargo screening. “In an important decision to promote security Indian citizen airportDirector General of Civil Bureau Aviation security ,BCAS) On May 9, 2025, the CISF role has been temporarily increased to provide additional security cover to cargo operations and in-line hold baggage screening systems (ILHBSS). Effective from 9 May to 18 May, 2025, this arrangement, to increase the mandate of CISF, all civilian airports are required to strengthen the security system, “CISF said in a statement.CISF immediately responded and is now oversight for cargo and goods operating. “CISF will look after the operations and security staff of the airport operators for ILHBSS. The instructions also authorize the CISF personnel to do random checks for these important facilities and oversee access control. All the airports under the CISF cover have already implemented the new system,” he said.
