Cameron Noory won 7-5, 6-3, 4-6, 1-6, 7-5 in Rolland Geraros to defeat 11th seed Daniel Medvedev in a five-set thriller in the French Open First Round on Tuesday. In another match on the same day, the third seed Alexander Zeverev went ahead in the second round with a direct victory over American learner TN and posted a score of 6-3, 6-3, 6-4. “It was a crazy match. In another important match of the day, Alexander Zaveveev showed a strong appearance in his early victory over learner TN. The German player, who ended as a runner-up in the last year’s tournament, will face Jasper Dey Jong of Netherlands or Italian Francesco Pasaro in the second round. Zverev said after his match, “This was a good start for the tournament. I am happy with a three-set win, usually it is four or five sets in the first matches. Hopefully it will continue in this way and it will be two weeks of fun.”
Zerev admitted that his previous loss to TN helped him focus during his encounter. “He defeated a lot of great opponents – (Daniel) Medvedev at the Australian Open and at me in the Australian,” Zeverev remembered. “He is going to climb on the ranking. Today it helps I played him once before, perhaps it helps I lose him too. I am happy with performance all around,” Zeverev said.
