Bulgarian nationalists march against the adoption of Euro currency

A big banner read “The Battle for the Bulgarian is the last battle for Lev Bulgaria.”Civic groups and nationalist parties organized a protest, raising patriotic songs and shouting slogans like “The Future of Sovereign States”.Bulgaria, which joined the European Union in 2007 and its poorest members, are expected to receive approval from Brussels in June to adopt the euro.

Bulgarian President rejects the Euro:

Those who are against the adoption of the euro as currency are Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.He proposed a referendum on the currency earlier this month, citing public concerns on inflation and purchasing power.Radev also said that the government has not implemented the necessary measures to allow “weakest” to face the shock of euro adoption.The European-supporting majority in Bulgaria’s Parliament rejected the referendum proposal, accusing Radev of acting by Russia.
