New Delhi: India’s High Commission in Ottawa confirmed the death of an Indian citizen on Saturday, which was badly stabbed in Rockland, a city near the Canadian capital.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, the Indian embassy in Canada confirmed the tragic incident and said it was in touch with local authorities and community groups.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian citizen in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police said that a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved families.”
According to the High Commission, the local police arrested a suspect in connection with the incident. It is further stated that it is coordinating with a community association in Canada to ensure that the family of the deceased gets all the necessary support.
