New Delhi: The convoy of Andhra Pradesh Vice President Pawan Kalyan not only disrupted traffic, but also damaged the career of more than 25 students.
On Monday, traffic restrictions were reportedly imposed to ensure the smooth passage of an actor-petitician’s convoy, due to which more than 25 candidates remembered a significant competitive exam in Visakhapatnam due to late arrival.
This exam was scheduled to begin at 8.30 am at the Ion Digital Zone Building in Chinmasidivivada, Pendurthi.
B Kalwati, whose child was to take the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2025 for admission to the National Institute of Technology (NITS), said that his son was delayed by traffic restrictions implemented for Kalyan convoy.
Kalavati told PTI, “We were stuck in traffic. It was stopped because Kalyan was on the way to Arku,” Kalavati told PTI, in which roads were approved to allow the actor-Rajner’s convoy to pass.
He explained that he arrived at NAD Junction at 7.50 am, but required 42 minutes to reach the examination center, resulting in late arrival and later refused to enter.
“Around 30 students were affected. We repeatedly requested, but did not allow it,” he said, describing their unsuccessful efforts to enter the examination hall.
Parents Anil Kumar said that a brief five-minute allowance from the examination center can prevent his daughter from remembering the exam and potentially losing an academic year.
Kumar expressed that when CMS and Deputy CM were temporary, the situation could be better managed if the police had communicated with the examination center for a brief expansion.
Despite arriving at 8.32 am, Kumar’s daughter was refused to enter two minutes late.
A parent spoke to the media, requested to consider arranging the re-examination for the students affected by welfare.
The Visakhapatnam police issued a statement in which any link was rejected between the convoy agitation and the students tampering.
Police said, “It is clear that the deputy CM’s movement through the area at 8.41 am has no connection with the students’ late arrival of students, which were expected to report till 7 am and certainly before 8.30 am,” the police said.
The police additionally stated that the examination attendance was particularly high that day.
Police said, “In addition, the traffic between BRTS Road or Gopalpatnam and Pendurthi was not blocked at any time before 8.30 pm on the roads to ensure the free movement of the candidates for the examination center, which is located next to a service road.”
The Jansina founder visited Arku constituency on Monday to meet tribal communities and start several road construction projects.
