New Delhi: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Karnataka government regarding the stampede near M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the IPL victory ceremony of Royal Challengers Bangalore. The bench said that a status report was submitted by the Advocate General and taken on record.

“We have expressed ourselves to the Advocate General and have filed a status report that is taken on record. The registry is directed to register this Su-Motu cognizance as a so-motto writ petition,” the court reported by the ANI. The matter is to be heard on Tuesday, June 10 next Tuesday.Stamped claimed 11 people and injured more than 30 after thousands of people gathered near Stadium. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased and did free treatment for the injured. A magisterial inquiry was also ordered, the CM did not estimate such a huge crowd to accept the government.The incident has triggered strong political reactions, in which opposition leaders have convicted the Congress -led state government for full mismanagement. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the tragedy as “fully hearteding”, JD (S) and BJP leaders accused of “zero preparation” and called for resignation.
