Matre was unusable at the IPL mega auction at Jeddah, but earlier this month, CSK’s eye was caught during the mid-season trial in Chepuk. He was part of BCCI’s Under -19 zonal camps at that time and was flown from Rajkot for trial.

Matre had an impressive domestic season with 458 runs in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and had 471 runs in the Ranji Trophy, which included the format in three centuries.
