Dibrugarh: A large -scale explosion after an uncontrolled gas leak in a rig under Rudrasagar Oilfield of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) at Shivasagar, Assam inspired the withdrawal of 70 families for a relief camp at Bongon, as the authorities struggled to reduce the crisis even after 24 hours of the accident.Rig, operated by SK Petrochemicals under ONGC, suffered a blow during regular operations in Bhatiapar area of ​​Shivasagar around 11.45 am on Thursday, causing untoward release of natural gas and nervousness in the surrounding villages. The fleeing gas deaf roar was reportedly heard 3-4 km away, forcing the inhabitants of the turn and surrounding areas to escape for safety. ONGC officials said the emergency protocols were immediately active, but proved to be difficult to join high pressure leakage. SDRF and NDRF were suppressed in action to control emissions, with technical teams of ONGC. “So far, 70 families have been transferred. Food, drinking water and medical facilities have been arranged in the camp. A police team has been deployed for security, and deployed on an ambulance site with a medical team,” said Sivasagar District Commissioner Ayush Garg.
