New Delhi: Venkatesh Iyer on Thursday scored 60 runs off 29 balls to power Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to win an 80 -run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Eden Gardens on Thursday. The victory brought KKR to fifth position from under the IPL 2025 table, while SRH slipped to last.
After being sent to the bat, KKR rode Iyer’s explosive knock and after 200/6 his 91 -run partnership with Rinku Singh (32 Not Out).

Iyer, who was bought for Rs 23.75 crore in the November auction, justified his price tag with an innings with seven fours and three sixes. Ajinkya Rahane (38) and young Angakish Raghuvanshi (50) laid a concrete foundation with a stand of 81, before Iyer took over, I scored 21 runs in a single over Pat Cummins.
In response, SRH was out of 120 in 16.4 overs. Vaibhav Arora (3/29) and Varun Chakraborty (3/22) destroyed SRH batting, the initial wickets left him again at 9/3.
Henrich Klassen (33) and Kamindu Mendis (27) tried to fight back, but KKR bowlers ensured that there was no return.
This commanding victory gives KKR very necessary speed, while SRH will have to re -organize after another disappointing performance.
