American universities issued a letter condemning Trump’s ‘political intervention’ in the country’s education system

More than 100 universities and colleges in the US issued a joint letter on Tuesday, condemning the “Overch and political intervention of the unprecedented government” of the Trump administration in the country’s education system.
The letter was signed by leaders of a wide range of schools, including large state universities, small Liberal Arts College and Ivard, Princeton and Brown institutes such as Harvard, Princeton and Brown.
The move follows the trump administration’s case against the Harvard University, which threatened to cut funding and implement external political inspection.
The joint statement emphasized their integrated opposition for government intervention in educational institutions, dismissing excessive government control over campus communities.
“We talk with a voice against the unprecedented government and are now endangering higher education against the unprecedented government,” the letter said.
“We are open to creative reforms and do not oppose legitimate government inspection. However, we should oppose unfair government infiltration in the lives of those who learn, live and work in our complexes,” it continued.
“We should reject the forced use of public research funding,” said this.
The administration has targeted several prestigious universities, which are threatened by the alleged campus to handle anti-Jewish and their financial resources, tax status and international student enrollment.
Some major institutions, including Columbia University, have tilted for administrative pressures amidst claims of leftist prejudice in aristocratic education.
Earlier on Monday, Harvard University initiated legal proceedings after the administration’s decision to suspend $ 2.3 billion in federal funding and threatened to withdraw tax exemption, citing concerns on the university’s response to Palestinian demonstrations.
Elon Garber, president of Harvard University, said, “Moments first, we filed a lawsuit to stop funding freeze as it is illegal and beyond the government’s authority.”
