Filmmaker-actor Anurag Kashyap, who is known for his bold storytelling and Tej Rai, recently addressed rumors about his alleged departure from the film industry. To take on Twitter, he wrote, “I have shifted cities. I have not left filmmaking. For all those who think I am disappointed and gone. I am here and I am busy compared to Shahrukh Khan (I have to do, I am not making that much money. No 3 projects a day.
Why did he leave Mumbai
Earlier this year, Kashyap revealed in an interview with The Hindu that his decision to leave Mumbai stems from the changing environment within the film industry. “Industry has become very toxic. Everyone is following unrealistic goals, trying to make a film worth Rs 500 or Rs 800 crore. A creative atmosphere is gone. A city is not only its structures, but also people. And here they pull you down.”
CBFC slam for delay in fuel
Kashyap also acted by Pratik Gandhi and Patilekha in Anant Mahadevan’s biography drama, for allegedly delaying the release of Phule to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film, which has been accused of promoting casteism, has allegedly asked to implement several cuts before releasing on April 25.
