Ajay Devgan’s much awaited thriller Raid 2 started his advance booking campaign with encouraging response on his early day. The film, which continues the story of the 2018 hit raid, was expected to gather strong pre-immunity, especially with Ajay Devgan returning to his gritty, no-nonsense avatar. However, after a promising initial run, the speed of advance booking has slowed significantly.
On its first day of advance booking, RAID 2 managed to sell tickets worth Rs 2.06 crore, including block booking-a healthy start for a middle-budget thriller in today’s market. But a day later, the overall advance booking including blocked seats is Rs 3.12 crore according to Sacnilk. This shows that the film has introduced more than Rs 1 crore from yesterday, indicating a decline in booking speed that may be a cause of concern for business analysts and manufacturers.
Breaking the current numbers, RAID 2 has so far sold 59,694 tickets, in which it has grossed Rs 1.69 crore without block booking. With the inclusion of block seats – tickets reserved by exhibitors, distributors, or corporate buyers – total inflammation of Rs 3.13 crore. Although these figures are decent for a material-operated thriller, day-to-day growth has not intensified as anticipated.
Those who monitor the industry will now see whether Raid 2 can lift the speed on its release, especially through spot booking and positive words of the mouth. For a film in this style, walk-in audiences often play an important role. While the initial number indicates at a respectable opening, maintaining speed through the weekend will be necessary to meet the box office expectations for Raid 2. With just 2 days for the release of the film- it now depends on how the film connects with the audience.
