A day after inviting MHA to interact, Ladakh parties fly hot and cold India news

Srinagar: A high-power committee (MHA) of the Union Home Ministry (MHA) invited for a meeting in New Delhi on 20 May, the parties said on Friday that they are optimistic and hopeful about the result of the meeting, but keeping in mind the possibility of a movement, if the meeting does not get the desired results.
“We are hoping that the upcoming meeting will solve all issues related to recruitment, reservation and domicile,” asked reporters at Asghar Ali Karbalai and Chering Doorji Lahok, Kargil Democratic alliance and Leh Apex Body, Leh.
He said that he hopes that talks on main issues – Sixth Schedule status for the state and Ladakh – will be discussed in the upcoming meeting.
The meeting will be chaired by Union Minister of State, Nityanand Rai. Representatives of Leh Apex Body (LAB), a amalgamation of various political organizations of Leh, and Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), a group of many political bodies of Kargil, jointly participating.
On Friday, KDA and Lab representatives met in Leh to discuss the strategy for the MHA meeting. After a joint meeting, he addressed a media conference.
Karbalai said that if the result of the May 20 meeting is positive, the talks will continue. However, he warned that if the meeting fails to come up with positive results, they will start a movement. “We are hoping that keeping in mind the strategic space of Ladakh, the central government will come with the decision on the state and the sixth schedule for Ladakh.”
Ladakh MP Haji Mohammad Hanifa Jaan, who also addressed the conference, urged the Central Government to ensure the meeting to ensure that the meeting gives positive results to maintain peace in Ladakh. “We should have concrete recommendations after the May 20 meeting,” he said.
The final meeting between MHA with lab and KDA was held on 15 January. Both political bodies are pressurizing for the four-point agenda; State for LadakhSixth Schedule status, a dedicated Public Service Commission and two parliamentary seats for the region. They are also demanding 95% job reservation for Ladakh residents and are 5% for those who have attained dominance of the region. However, they demand that a person living in Ladakh since 1989 should be considered eligible for the position of dominance.
