UK Syria Defense Eliminates Ban on Internal Ministries

London: The UK government on Thursday announced that it was lifting sanctions that were now imposed on Syrian interior and Defense Ministries, which were now during the rule of Bashar al-Assad.
The office of implementation of financial sanctions said in a notice, “The following entries have been removed from the consolidated list and now an asset freeze: not under the Ministry of Internal and Defense.”
Sanctions against various media groups and intelligence agencies were also lifted, although the new Syrian rulers dissolved the asad-era detective bodies in January.
The notice said “involved in suppressing the civilian population in Syria” or “involved in supporting or benefiting from the Syrian regime”, the notice said.
The new Syrian government aims to convince the Western capitals that the jihadi generation of the rebels falling in Assad in December is limited to the past, on charges of 14 years, and international sanctions should be crippled.
