In a light moment after signing one executive OrderUS President Donald Trump joked a delegation about being “royalty” after receiving a cultural garland American Samoa,
The delegation stated that Garland is a symbol of royalty in his culture. In response, Trump asked, “Does this mean I am royalty?” The moment was caught on camera and shared by the White House Communications Director, Margo Martin.
Trump signed an executive order, titled “Analishing American commercial fishing In the Pacific, “The order addresses issues such as loss of access to about half of the American exclusive economic sector due to commercial fishing restrictions and foreign competition.”
The new policy will provide a greater access to the American Samoa private sector in the Pacific fishing industry, which is important for the economy of the region. With more than 80% of the economy of the area dependent on fishing, the executive order is expected to give a significant boost.
As a meeting, Trump jokingly told the delegation to send them some “good tuna”, giving them importance in the region.
