US President Donald Trump on Thursday extended the ongoing struggle of his administration with Harvard University, labeled the IV League Institution as an “insult” as federal agencies took unprecedented steps against their funding, tax status and ability to host international students.

It is actually a privilege, and it has been much abused than Harvard.”
Then naming other universities, he said, “When you take a look at whether it is Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, I don’t know what is going on, but when you see how badly they have acted and other ways. So we will see it very strongly.”

While the federal law prevents the President from starting the IRS investigation directly, the authorities confirmed that there was a review of Harvard standing before his comment.
Former Harvard Chairman and former Treasury Secretary Larry Summer condemned the effort, called it “misuse of executive power”, as quoted by Reuters.
The aggressive stance of the administration has spewed an alarm in Academia, especially among international students. In Harvard, where 27% of students come from abroad, many expressed fear that their legal status is in danger.
“Harvard is not just Harvard without his international community,” said a Swedish senior study economics and Sarkar Leo Girden. “We feel like a goal, and it’s terrible.”
After the leadership of Harvard in defying the pressure of the government, the deadlock appears far away with stresses and institutions like Columbia University. “It’s not just about Harvard,” said Professor of democracy Archan Fung. “This is about whether the educational institutions can be independent of political force.”
