Samantha and Varun Dhawan’s ‘Honey Bani’ was canceled; Stories woven in Priyanka Chopra’s ‘Garh Season 2’.
Samantha and Varun Dhawan will not return to another thrilling adventure, as Amazon has officially drawn the plug on their International Amy Award-Namine Series ‘Sitadale: Honey Bani’. The series, which was an international spinoff of the ‘Garh’ led by Priyanka Chopra and Richard Maden, has officially been canceled with the Italian spinoff, ‘Citadel: Diana’, after a season.
Deadline broke the news, about a month later, the portal first claimed that the Citadel season two had been delayed by 2026. The decision is allegedly part of a strategic change in global plans of streaming giants, which will now see the two storylines integrate in the upcoming season 2 of the Flagship Citadel series.
In a statement stated by the portal, Vernon Sanders, the head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, said, “After successfully crossing India and Italy, both the strongholds from the strongholds: Honey Bana and Citadel: Diana will be woven in the second season of the Madarshiship series.”
He also admitted that while the series had been successful, “International chapters will not continue as a individual chain.”
Citadel: Honey Bani, Samantha and Varun starrer, and Citadel: Diana, Mattida de Angeles, premiered in December and September 2024 respectively. Although both received strong reactions in their local markets, they failed to break globally, causing uncertainty about the future of the series, making spin-offs in various other countries.
The studio also confirmed that Citadale is currently in post-production, and would be a global premiere for the second quarter of 2026, thus arriving about three years after the onset of season 1 in April 2023.
According to the platform, the second season will deepen the emotional arcs of Nadia (Priyanka Chopra), Mason (Richard Maden), and Oralik (Stanley Tuki), as they face the growing threat of the shady organization Maticor. The season has promised a new cast addition to high-day action, bold cinematic storytelling and espionage saga.
