Bengaluru: A person attempted to set himself on fire outside Raj Bhavan on Sunday afternoon, alleging harassment in the case of domestic violence registered against him. He allegedly put petrol on himself before he was stopped by security personnel.
Man identified as Zuhel AhmedAn engineer, a resident of Hebbal and an engineer by profession, was quickly stopped before the security personnel ignited themselves.
According to the police, Ahmed put petrol on himself while standing on the pavement outside the Governor’s residence and announced that he was ending his life.
Before the effort, Ahmed told the officials, “I also wanted to file a complaint, but the police is not listening to me. I have no choice but to end my life.”
The incident came to light on the pavement near Raj Bhavan, where Ahmed immersed himself with petrol and announced the intention to end his life. However, vigilant police personnel posted nearby intervened quickly and stopped it from executing the Act.
“He has been taken into custody for questioning. A medical examination will be held, and his family members have been informed and are currently with us,” said an investigating officer.
