‘Alliance of Haar’: MK Stalin hit Amit Shah on AIADMK-BJP tie-up in Tamil Nadu. Bharat News

New Delhi: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President MK Stalin on Friday slammed a new alliance between AIADMK and BJP, “nexus of defeat” and Branding Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s Chennai press conference “disqualified” that situation.
In a statement issued by DMK, Stalin said, “The AIADMK-BJP alliance is an alliance of defeat. The people of Tamil Nadu are those who repeatedly handed over the defeat.” He criticized Shah for reviving a failed partnership without offering any ideological clarity. “Although this is his choice to confirm the AIADMK-BJP alliance, he did not clarify why this alliance was formed or on which ideological foundation it stood. Instead, he vaguely claimed that he would work to make ‘general minimum programs’.”
The DMK chief questioned whether the main issues raised by AIADMK-like NEET, three-language policy, Hindi imposition, WAQF Act, and in the upcoming delimitation, protest against concerns over the counting of Tamil Nadu seat-will be part of this so-called program.
The AIADMK-BJP alliance was officially revived on Friday, Amit Shah announced that NDA AIADMK’s Edappdi Palaniswami (EPS) would contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections under the leadership of AIDMK.
As part of the reshuffle, BJP MLA and former AIADMK minister Nanner Nagendran filed his nomination for Tamil Nadu BJP President in place of Annamalai. Shah praised Annamalai’s contribution and said that his organizational strength would now be used at the national level.
The renovated aligning marks a twist point after a turbulent period between the two sides. Annamalai fractured in BJP-AIADMK partnership after Annamalai made controversial remarks about the late AIADMK leader and former CM Jayalalithaa. AIADMK leaders accused him of insulting and demanded a more similar rank in the alliance.
However, Amit Shah demanded to solve concerns, said, “There is no situation and demand of AIADMK … We will not have any interference in AIADMK internal affairs. This alliance is going to be beneficial for both NDA and AIADMK.” He also assured that the alliance would move “permanent”.
Earlier this year, Nagendran indicated that the EPS was open for dialogue and the pressure strategy was not required for the formation of the alliance. Although Annamalai initially took himself away from those comments, he later said that he was ready to serve the party in any role.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, both BJP and AIADMK contested separate elections and failed to win the same seat in Tamil Nadu, while the DMK-led coalition fielded all 39 constituencies. Now with the alliance, the two sides will mount a joint challenge for the ruling DMK in the upcoming 2026 assembly elections.
