MS Dhoni has called the team partner a ‘traitor’ ahead of CSK vs KKR Clash for a long time

New Delhi: Chennai’s Super Kings were given a major setback on Thursday as regular captain Ruturaj Gikwad was excluded from the IPL due to a elbow injury. The shock paved the way for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to return as captain for the rest of the season, confirming CSK head coach Stephen Fleming.

“We have an unconfined player, MS Dhoni, who will take over as captain for the remaining IPL,” Fleming on Friday told Mediaperson against the conflict. Kolkata Knight Riders,
Dhoni, who captained CSK from 2008 to 2023 and took him to five IPL titles, handed over the reins to Gaikwad before the 2024 season.
Next to the upcoming stability, Dhoni was seen practicing in Chepack Nets when his former CSK team partner Dwayne Bravo – now the Kolkata Knight Riders’ patron – named him to greet him.

“The traitor is here,” Dhoni commented.
“Life is very inappropriate,” Bravo responded before hugging Ravindra Jadeja and then joining hands with Dhoni.

Bravo was part of Chennai Super Kings’ IPL title winning squads in 2011, 2018 and 2021. He also worked as a bowling coach of the franchise during his winning 2023 campaign.
However, before the 2025 season, Bravo participated in a manner with CSK’s coaching setup and played a mentor with Kolkata Knight Riders.
Along with ignoring Gaikwad, CSK is now facing a selection dilemma. Rahul Tripathi could return to the top order, although his form has been away from reassuring.
In the middle order, veteran pracharak Deepak Hooda is a possible option, while the team can also see to inject fresh energy with young Delhi batsman Vansh Bedi, which is known for its late innings capacity.
CSK is also entitled to a replacement for Gaikwad, in which Mumbai’s Kishore Ayush Monthre is considered for the slot.
