New Delhi: Mumbai’s famous tea seller Mohammad TaufiqPopularly known as ‘known’Shatter‘, Whose quick thinking saved his life during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, has said that India should not do any special treatment for Tahwur Rana, which was given to Ajmal Kasab, one of the guilty terrorists.
Talking to ANI on Tauvur Rana’s extradition, Taufiq said, “… For India, there is no need to provide him a cell. Biryani And facilities provided to Kasab. There should be a separate law for terrorists, a system should be implemented so that they are hanged within 2-3 months … “
Rana is facing allegations of involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, killing hundreds of innocent people. He is now expected to face trial in India.
On 7 April, the US Supreme Court refused a request to stop Rana’s extradition. Rana submitted an emergency appeal to Chief Justice John Roberts on March 20, 2025, seeking migration on transfer.
The order issued on Monday said, “Applications and courts have been referred to to address the Chief Justice.”
According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, the case against Rana was initially registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) after a 26/11 terror attack in Delhi in which more than 160 people were killed.
While the extradition process is going on in relation to that case, officials said that it is yet to be determined whether the Mumbai Police can formally request their custody for any part of their investigation.
A source said, “After examining the basis of extradition, it will be clear whether custody can be sought by the Mumbai Crime Branch in this case,” a source said.
Officials also confirmed that the Mumbai Police has not yet received any official information regarding Rana’s transfer, either for inquiries or court proceedings.
Pakistani-Canadian citizens, Tahwur Rana, was first convicted for supporting Lashkar-e-Tabiba (late) in the US and providing material assistance to the group responsible for the fatal Mumbai attacks claiming more than 174 lives.
