‘He Shot to Kill’: Police shot autistic teenager several times as resentment in Idaho

Seventeen -year -old Victor Perez, a non -Autistic teenager with cerebral palsy, was shot several times by the Idaho police on Saturday as he kept a kitchen knife and allegedly stepped towards him.
Authorities set fire to a fence as Victor, just a few seconds after coming into a domestic disturbance in Pokatelo. He is now in critical condition, with a leg dissected and uncertain brain activity, reported the Associated Press.
Victor’s family says that he did not understand what is happening. He is non -object, is autism, and suffer from cerebral palsy. He was also intellectually disabled, according to his family.
Her aunt, Ana Wazakwez confirmed that she remains in a critical position after going through surgery to remove nine bullets and distract one of her legs. “We don’t know if he is going to wake up,” he said.
A witness video features police officers on fire after just 12 seconds of getting out of their vehicles. Authorities responded to a 911 call, reporting a person with a knife in a backyard. The neighbor’s son said that the teenager appeared drunk and was chasing two people. His family later clarified that Victor was not intoxicated, but his situation faced difficulty in walking.
Victor was reportedly raised from the ground and moved towards the officers holding a knife, after which he shot him several times. His sister, who was present, allegedly shouted that she was “special”, who was trying to stop shooting.
The police chief admitted the video but said that it only shows an angle. He defended the functions of the officers and said that he had to react to a threat.
Protests have taken place in Pocatello, with several questions that why officials did not use tasers or pepper spray instead of opening the fire. Protesters are demanding accountability and calling for better police training about handling situations that involve disabled people.
