Harry Brook named the new white-ball captain of England. Cricket news

England started a new era in white-ball cricket, nominated as 26-year-old Harry Brook as captain of his new limited overs. ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Campaign. England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the appointment on Monday, 7 April.

Brooke is a mainstay in England’s batting setup since 2022 and is currently at number 2 in the ICC Test batting rankings, has long been seen as a natural leader. He captained England in the absence of Butler during a series against Australia last year and led the U19 side in the first 2018 World Cup.
“This is a real honor for England’s White-Ball captain nominated,” said ECB.

“Ever since I was a child, who was playing cricket in Burley in Verfedel, I dreamed of playing for England representing Yorkshire, and maybe one day led the team.”
Brook also thanked those who shared their journey: “I want to thank my family and coaches who have supported me every step in every way … I will not be in this position without them.”

Brook’s first assignment as a skipper will be a domestic series against the West Indies starting on May 29, followed by matches against South Africa in September.
