New Delhi: In the proceedings started after the Waqf Bill, it was passed in LS around 1 pm on Thursday, the House adopted a resolution that confirms the implementation of President’s rule in ManipurHome Minister Amit Shah said that the situation in the state was largely under control as there was no death in the last four months, but it could not be considered satisfactory with the displaced people living in relief camps.
Shah also said that after implementing the President’s rule, discussions were held with mathis and kukas, and separate meetings were held with organizations of both communities.
Back to President’s rule but wants peace, call Congress and TMC on Manipur
The Ministry of Home Affairs will soon call a joint meeting, he said that when the government was working to find a way to end the violence, it was the top priority to establish peace.
The President’s rule was implemented in Manipur on 13 February, when CM Biren Singh resigned on 9 February on February 9 which began in May 2023.
Shah said that the opposition was trying to portray a picture that the ethnic clash between Miti and the Cookie communities was the first violence in Manipur and the BJP -led government had failed to maintain law and order. He said, “Three prominent examples of violence for 10 years, three years and six months were during the first government. After those incidents, neither the Prime Minister nor the Union Home Minister visited the state,” he said.
Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that his party supported the resolution, but wanted to restore peace and stability in the state. “Finally restore surgeency, peace and stability, promote dialogue with each other, promote inclusion,” he said.
Sayani Ghosh of Trinamool Congress said that his party supported the resolution but took favor of the initial restoration of peace. DMK’s K Kanimozhi said that “divisive” politics should end in Manipur.
