In his absence as a captain, Ryan Parag led the team in the first three matches, with Samson fully characterized as a batsman, while Dhruv Juraral took charge behind the stumps.
According to the Cricbuzz report, the Sport Science Division will have to undergo an evaluation as he pushes to return to full wicket-keeping duties.

Due to his restricted clearance, Samson has played an impact in the first three matches of RR as a player, in which the Parag leadership oversees duties.
So far, he has contributed purely with BAT, scored 66 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, 13 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders and 20 against Chennai Super Kings.
A source quoted by Cricbuzz said, “He will look for withdrawal for the remaining games and is expected to return from RR’s next match as a skipper, which is about a week away.”
