JJ Spon won his first major golf title at the US Open on Sunday, June 16, 2025, with a dramatic 65-foot Birdi put on the final hole. He ended a challenging beginnings, including five bogies in the first six holes, to defeat Scotland’s Robert McIntire with two-over 72.In the last seven holes, Spain’s victory was exposed by four bendies, including a tap-in Birdi in four 17th holes, where they run green color. He joined the Golf Legends Jack Nicons, Ben Hogan, Tom Watson and John Rahm in Finishing with a continuous Birdi to win the US Open.“Just a dream to finish it. You see other people doing … You see crazy moments. This kind of moment in this championship is my own moment, I will never forget this moment for the rest of my life,” Spon said.He said, “It is definitely like a storybook, fairytail ending, fighting a kind of underadog back, never giving up, never leaving.
