Triston Stabs: South Africa’s possible ex-factor, Matthew Hayden, says Cricket News in WTC final

Former Australian opener Matthew Hayden has identified South African cricketer Triston Stabs as a possible game-changer in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship Finals against Lord’s against Australia on 11–15 June as Lord’s, who compare his sports style with former England batsman Kevin Peterson.Stabs recently played in his warm-up game against Zimbabwe in Arundel in number five for South Africa and maintained the same place for the WTC final. He has scored 500 runs in nine Tests on an average of 33.33, including two centuries and fifty.Hayden told Star Sports, “I think Triston Stabs, I think, may be a bit of an X-factor. Kevin Peterson may be a bit against Australia, similar to the way England were, which could come out, dominate,” Hayden told Star Sports.

South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, qualified for its first WTC final after topping with 69.44-Bindu percent in 2023–25 standing. Stabs is also believed to be for the position of number three, which is competing with Tony de Jorzi for the occasion.In the Indian Premier League 2025, Stabs represented Delhi Capital and scored 300 runs in 14 matches, on an average 50 and 150.75 strike rates, although they did not score any half -centuries.Quiz: Who is that IPL player?“We have seen his capacity through IPL. So he can be a danger,” said Hayden.The South African team has shown confidence in Stabs’ abilities as they are ready for their first WTC final presence against Australia at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.
