Foxconne invests $ 1.5 billion to expand iPhone production in India

Foxconn has invested another $ 1.5 billion (about) 12,500 crore) in India as it seems to expand its presence outside China. This investment comes through the hand of Foxconn in Singapore, which bought 12.7 billion shares in its Indian unit, Yuzan Technology IndiaYuzan creates a smartphone component in Tamil Nadu and is an important part of Apple’s iPhone supply chain. According to the government, five semiconductor units are already under construction. With the new unit of Foxconn, India now has six semiconductor projects in the pipeline.

Foxconn Partners with HCL Group

This investment follows approval from the Government of India recently, allowing Foxconn to establish a semiconductor facility near Noida Airport. The plant is a joint venture with HCL group, its price and 3,700 crores and it will create display drivers used in smartphones, laptops, cars and other electronic devices. The factory is expected to process 20,000 wafers and produce up to 36 million units every month.India is constructing its semiconductor area through new infrastructure, government assistance and educational partnership. More than 270 institutes and 70 startups are working on advanced chip design, and 20 students-designed chips have already been completed in SCL Mohali.Global players such as applied materials and LAM research have also started operations in India, and are expanding to support suppliers such as Merc, Linde, Air Liquid and Inox.

It comes a week later. US President Donald Trump said that he told Apple CEO Tim Cook: “I don’t want you to build in India.” Despite these comments, Apple stays in the course to transfer iPhone production from China to India. Apple CEO Tim Cook has publicly stated that most of the iPhones sold in the US will soon be made in India. The infection is going on in a large scale of Foxconn in Devnahalli, Karnataka at a 300 -acre plant. On Monday, operations continued without disintegration, and the construction of dormitory for workers – a standard feature of the Foxcony model – was running.Apple’s largest contract manufacturer Foxconn is investing $ 2.56 billion (over ₹ 21,000 crore) in Devanhali feature. The plant is spread over the villages of Doddgullahalli and Chappardahali, located about 34 km from the Kemp Gowda International Airport in Bengaluru.The first phase of the project (2023–24) included an investment of about ₹ 3,000 crore, and a similar amount is planned for phase two (2026–27). Foxconn is aimed at producing around 100,000 iPhones in the facility by December this year.
