Bhopal: To repay a loan of Rs 20 lakh, a sarpanch allegedly signed a deal in the Guna district of the MP, leasing a local person with the condition to his panchayat that he would pay the loan.This was then handed over to a third person ‘through a notaryized affidavit. When the news of this reached the administration, Sarpanch, Lakshmi Bai was rejected on 9 May.Each panchayat is allocated a budget to do development works in his area with the sarpanch holding purse strings. Officials said that a bizarre notaryized deal was signed in 2022 for crores of panchayats on the outskirts of Guna, about 220 km from Bhopal.After an investigation by the Guna Subdivision Magistrate, the District Panchayat officials filed a police complaint. Police filed an FIR against Ranveer Singh Kushwaha, a resident of the area, who captured the panchayat after assuring the alleged sarpanch to repay the alleged loan and then handed it over to a third person.

A complaint was followed by an editible investigation, after which action was taken against the sarpanch and the person who was involved in the deal with him, Abhishek Dubey, CEO of the Guna District Panchayat, confirmed Titusde. Since the panchayat elections were held in 2022, it was alleged that the loan was taken by Lakshmi Bai to contest the election, but it was not mentioned in the FIR. Refusing the allegations, Sarpanch’s husband Shankar Singh told TOI over the phone: “We have not taken any money from anyone.Laxmi Bai has been removed from the post. ,Toi has a copy of the FIR, which says Ranveer carried out the deal with the sarpanch through an affidavit on a 100 rupee stamp paper, which was notaryized. “Check of photocopy … It makes it clear that an agreement was signed between Sarpanch Lakshmi Bai and Ranveer to conduct the works of the Gram Panchayat …” says FIR. However, the FIR does not specify what is ‘TS cost’.
