Hit at Newark Airport from Fourth Air Traffic Control Outage since April, FAA confirms

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the Newark Liberty International Airport collided with another air traffic control outage on Monday morning. According to the FAA, the Philadelphia Air Traffic Control Center, which manages flights at Newark Liberty International Airport, experienced a brief radio system failure for two seconds. It marks such a fourth disruption at the Newark Airport from 28 April, amidst technical and challenges of personnel. After the April incident, the 90-second communication obstruction occurred on May 9, causing a disruption in the flight. CBS News reported that on May 11, another outage stopped the flights, while the shortage of employees related to the April incident led to a widespread delay. The Philadelphia feature that controls Newark flights is currently facing understanding issues. These issues highlight the significant decrease of air traffic controllers across the United States.US Transport Secretary Sean Dafi announced this month that the national air traffic control system continues to be modernized. The upgrade includes new software and equipment establishment, which is expected to reach the “dollars of billions of dollars” according to Duffy. The current system operates on chronic technology, forces FAA to source replacement parts from eBay or makes them using 3D printers due to unavailability of new components, as Duffy informed a Senate Appropriation subcommittee in April.Due to the ongoing issues in the ERW, the FAA suggests implementing important flight restrictions, limiting the arrival to 28 per hour. The proposed reduction in air traffic will be able to construct and improve the runway to the airport. The daily maintenance work is going to continue till June 15, followed by the end of the year after the weekly Saturday operations.
