Indian-origin insurance broker Harjit Singh Dhadada was shot dead in Canada?

In 1997, Harjit Singh Dhadda came to Canada and settled here with his family and business.

A 51 -year -old Sikh businessman, Harjeet Singh Dhadada, was shot dead by unknown gunmen at a parking lot in Mississaga, Ontario, earlier this week. The Peel Regional police said that he died after 20 rounds of firing and investigators believe it was a target shooting – this means that the shooters came to kill him.His family members have accused the police of gross negligence as they said that he had reported all the danger calls that his father was receiving and even begging for security but the police paid no attention.

Who was Harjeet Singh Dhadda?

According to the family, Dhadda is a businessman, who came to Canada to settle in 1997. “For more than 25 years, he worked hard to create a life here- he ran his own business, was a successful insurance broker and made a positive contribution to the country,” his daughter Gurlin Dhadda said in her statement. However, some reports claimed that Dhaddi was a businessman in the trucking service industry. Rohit Gadra, an associate of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed to have killed Dhad and said that Dhad was warned a year ago. But despite this, Dhadda said, Arsh Dalla helped in release on bail. Aresh Dalla is the Khalistan Tiger Force Chief.

Family denies any criminal relationship

Dhad’s family members denied any criminal link. “My father was not worth it. He was not involved in any criminal. He lived an honest life. Nevertheless, those who used to harm him, they were equipped with illegal weapons, used to completely disregard the law and seem to be without fear of results,” son Tanveer Dhada said. “Our community is mourning, but we are also angry. We ask: What is the government doing about forced recovery and targeted violence? Why are innocent people left defenseless while threats grow loudly? When the authorities fail to protect us, what are we options?” Daughter Gurlin wrote in her statement.

What did the police say about receiving complaints from Dhadda

Peel police told CBC News that they know about “incredible information is currently wandering in the media”. The police did not say whether they received reports about threats against Dhadda.Peel police chief Nishan Duriapp said that the police focused on a “disturbing” trend at the end of 2023, in which South Asian trade owners were falling victim to forced recovery efforts for a large amount under the threat of violence. He said that a task force was established at that time to investigate those cases.
