US vice -president JD Venson said on Wednesday that Russia was “asking a lot more” in exchange for Ukraine to end its 38 -month attack “in one of the strongest rebels of Moscow of Trump administration to date.He commented during a side event organized by the organizers of Theminich Security Conference. “I wouldn’t say that Russia is uninterrupted in bringing this to a resolution,” Vance told the attendees. “What I would say, now, Russians are asking for a certain set of requirements, a certain set of concessions to eliminate the struggle. We think they are asking for too much.”

Vice President. JD Vance says that Russia is asking ‘too much’ to end the war with Ukraine.

Vance clarified that the administration wants to engage both Ukraine and Russia in direct negotiations, as the US cannot mediate alone. “We feel that it is probably impossible for us to completely this mediation without at least some direct interaction between the two,” he said. He further stated that the US is focusing on helping both sides agree with the “basic guidelines” to start formal dialogue. Although the Trump administration has often expressed disappointment with both sides in the war, Vance’s statement makes a remarkable change in tone towards Moscow. He also defended the administration’s approach as “strategic realism”, aimed at understanding both attitudes – a stance that has cautioned the criticism of European allies to legalize Russian claims. In Russia’s demands, Ukraine abandoned its NATO ambitions, accepted the anesthesis of Crimea and occupied areas, and legal protection for the Russian language. Ukraine, led by President Volodimier Zelanski, continues to emphasize for firm safety guarantee from Western colleagues.
