Trump canceled the lease of NASA Climate Lab with the University of Columbia, threatening the work of earth science
NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is a major global climate research center located in New York City, was forced to vacate its long -time office after cancellation of its lease with the University of Columbia by Trump Administration. Closed on 31 May, employees worked far away, while the agency is looking for a new location. The upper west side of the Manhattan, located above the dinner, has been a center for climate modeling and space science since decades, which was painted in the TV show “Sceteled”. Lab scientists have worked with the researchers of Colombia to study the changing environment of the Earth and predict future climate trends.In an internal email received by CNN, NASA Godard director McKenzie Listrup told the employees that the lab’s mission will continue when the physical space is closing. “GISS has an important place in the history of space science, for decades to understand the atmosphere and systems of the planets for decades, especially our own earth. And when the lease is ending, the mission of the institute continues.,“Work continues, data, product, science will continue because science is performed by people, not Ges’s director Gavin Schmit said in an interview with CNN. An inner formula of NASA described CNN’s decision as “demorling”, especially with the possibility of more cuts for Earth science. On policies on antisemitism and diversity, it closes amid widespread deadlock between Trump administration and major universities, including Colombia.
