Pakistani FM stations banned Indian songs amidst increasing tension after the Pahgam terror attack

Pakistani FM radio stations have stopped broadcasting Indian songs on Thursday, after the Tension between India and Pakistan increased after the Pahalgam terror incident claiming 26 lives.
PBA General Secretary Shakeel Masood, PTI news agency said, “Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has stopped circulating Indian songs at Pakistani FM radio stations across the country with immediate effect.”
Pakistani viewers regularly enjoy Indian songs, especially by famous artists such as Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Mukesh, which are painted daily at local FM radio stations.
Pakistan Information Minister Atta Tarr supported the PBA action amid suggestions that the government had directed the association to stop Indian song broadcast at all FM stations, given the current status of bilateral relations.
On 22 April, relations between India and Pakistan deteriorated after hitting 26 persons, mainly tourists in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

The attack, the most deadly in the valley since the 2019 Pulwama strike, targeted most tourists and claimed by a proxy resistance front (TRF), a Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Tiba (late). TRF later refused to participate in the attack.
International leaders immediately condemned the attack and expressed their support for India, condemning terrorism.
Following this incident, India implemented several counter -counterfeit measures against Pakistan, including the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, the closure of the attic border, and a decrease in diplomatic relations due to cross -border connections for the attack.
India, in addition to this, on Wednesday banned its airspace for Pakistani airline operations.
Tarar wrote to PBA, “The patriotic gesture of PBA is highly appreciated and reflects the collective feeling of the entire nation.”
He said that restricting Indian songs at Pakistani FM stations shows that “we all unite to promote national unity and support main values during such testing time.”
