Mohanlal’s Thudram fails to defeat Prithviraj’s The Goat Life and L2: Amazing on the day

Mohanlal’s latest film, Thudram, has made a strong debut, earned 5.5 crores on its early day and recently crossed the Malayalam hits like Manjmel Boys and Yasham. Although it did not break the record set by goat life or Mohanlal’s L2: Imapuran, the film’s performance confirms the love of the audience for their star power and dramatic experiences.

Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal has once again proved his permanent star Power with the release of his latest film, Thudram. The much awaited film opened at the box office for an impressive rupee of Rs 5.5 crore on its first day, which re -confirms Mohanlal’s position as one of the most bankable names in the industry.

Thudram’s day a number one managed to cross the early day collection of several recent Malayalam blockbasters. The film surpassed Manuzumel Boys, which earned Rs 3.3 crore in its early day in 2014, soon became a sensation of a word-mouth. It also improved the acclaimed survival drama 2018 by critics, which opened for Rs 1.71 crore before becoming one of the biggest hits in Malayalam cinema.
Another remarkable film which Thudaram left behind was, starring Fahd Fasil, who posted a commendable post of Rs 3.65 crore on its first day. Given the strong discussion around Aavesham, the performance of Thudram was particularly important, indicating that Mohanlal’s loyal fan remains unheard of.
However, while Thudram secured a respectable place among the top openers of the year, it decreased by challenging the record set by the biggest titles in the industry. Prithviraj the goat life, a drama which was worth Rs 7.6 crore on day 1. Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s own Magnum Oppus, L2: Ampuran, Malayalam Cinema continues the record for the highest opening day, with a number of Rs 21 crore – a number that remains uncontrolled.
Despite topping the life of the ampuran or goat, Tudram’s early day performance is a win for both Mohanlal and Malayalam film industry, which confirms the audience hunger for dramatic experiences. With the beginning of the positive word of the mouth, the film is expected to enjoy a strong weekend, which adds another potential hit to Mohanlal’s magnificent filmography.
Mohanlal will once again work with Prithviraj for the third installment of the Lucifer series, son Pranav Mohanlal will play his small role in the film in Mohanlal.
