New Delhi: Indian fast bowler Uman Malik It has returned Kolkata Knight Riders ,KKR) Setup for a “Return to Cricket” program, continuing his rehabilitation with an injury, which stopped his participation in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
KKR’s official X account clarified that Uman has not joined as an official player, but to cooperate with the team and assistant employees.
KKR said, “Umran Malik has joined Kolkata to continue his rehabilitation and to continue the ‘Return to Cricket’ program with KKR for the remaining part of the season. He is not joining as the official sports member of the team, but will work with the team and support staff, who will work with the employees, who their best for the family!
KKR acquired Umran at his base price of Rs 75 lakh during last year’s IPL mega auction. However, due to injury, the team was brought to Chetan Sakaria, which was as its replacement in March before the season begins.
For the first four years, Sunrisers associated with Hyderabad (SRH), Umran earned recognition as ‘Jammu Express’ for continuous bowling at a speed of more than 150 kmph. During his SRH term from 2021 to 2024, he claimed 29 wickets in 26 matches, an average of 26.62 averages with an economy rate of 9.39, including the best performance of 5/25.
His best IPL performance came in 2022, with the best figure of 5/25 and 22 wickets at an average of 20.18 with an economy rate of 9.03. He emerged as his team’s key wickets and finished fourth in that season.
Due to this success, India started in June 2022 against Ireland. He has since played 10 ODIs and eight T20Is, on an average of 13.69 (best figures 3/57) on average 30.69 and 11 wickets in T20I 11 wickets 22.09 (best figure 3/48).
His most recent international presence was an ODI against the West Indies in July 2023, where he recorded 0/27 figures in three overs.
His last competitive cricket match was an IPL stability for SRH vs Mumbai Indians (Mi) in March last year.
Currently, KKR ranks seventh in the points table with three wins and five defeats, losing his last match by 39 runs against Gujarat Titans.
His upcoming match is against Punjab Kings (PBK) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Saturday.
