6 killed, 2 injured in gas cylinder blast in Pakistan

Peshawar: Six people died in a gas cylinder explosion and according to an official, on Saturday, two others were injured in Pakistan’s north -west Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident in Aram Colony in Marden district caused the collapse of the two-storey house, said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rescue 1122 spokesman Bilal Ahmed Faizi said, an emergency rescue service. “Six people were killed and two girls were seriously injured in the accident,” Faizi said. He said that the rescue teams reached the site immediately after receiving information about the explosion and recovered the dead bodies while saving the injured trapped under the rubble. He said that Mardon Deputy Commissioner Azmatullah Wazir, District Emergency Officer Syed Shoaib Mansoor and Assistant Commissioner Junaid Khalid were present at the scene and looked after the entire operation. The operation was completed in seven hours, including recovery of the dead and transferring the injured to a hospital. Fire incidents occur regularly across the country due to leakage and explosion of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders. After an LPG tanker explosion in Multan, Punjab province, at least 19 killed and more than a dozen others were injured earlier this year, the Senate Standing Committee at the Cabinet Secretariat ordered an inquiry into the sale of adulterated LPG. A rescue officer said in February, 12 people were injured when a rescue officer said that a gas cylinder was exploded near the roadside near Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) in Peshawar.
