According to the state media, at least four people were killed and 516 injured in a major explosion by the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas.

“We are currently taking the injured to nearby medical centers and transporting,” he said.
The explosion was so powerful that it could be felt and heard some 50 km away, the FARS news agency said, the residents said that they could feel the shake of the land even at some distance from the port.
According to AFP, “Shockwave was so strong that most port buildings were severely damaged,” said Tasnim News Agency.
The Rajaei port mainly handles container shipment and is also home to oil tanks and other petrochemical features.
According to the AFP, the state -owned National Iranian oil product distribution company said in a statement made by local media that “The blast in Shahid Rajai Port has no connection with refineries, fuel tanks, distribution complexes or oil pipelines.”
The news agency AP said Hasanzadeh told the television of the Iranian state that the respondents were earlier trying to reach the region, while others were trying to vacate the site.
He said that the blast came by containers at Raji port in the city.
The raji port mainly handles the container traffic and also has oil tanks and other petrochemical features.
The port is located about 1,050 km (652 mi) in the south -east of Tehran, the capital of Iran, which sits on the strait of Hormuz – the narrow entrance to the Persian Gulf through which the world’s business is passed.
The explosion occurred as Iran and was holding a third round in Oman over the United States Tehran’s fast -moving nuclear program.
