A coalition by 20 Democratic Attorney General filed two cases on Tuesday, until the states follow their staunch immigration policies, challenging the Trump administration’s dangers to withdraw billions of dollars in federal funding. The cases made by California’s Attorney General Rob Bonta were filed in the federal court in the Road Island. He accused the administration of US President Donald Trump that he tried to force the states to align with his immigration agenda by tying compliance with transportation, emergency preparations and disaster relief.According to CBS News, the trial targets the security secretary of Homeland Christie NoM and Transport Secretary Sean Dafi, alleging that they violated the Constitution by threatening to withdraw the funds allocated by the Congress. “President Donald Trump cannot use these funds as a bargained chip,” Bonta said in a press conference, the move called “adjacent” and “clearly illegally”.States received a letter from the Departments of Homeland Security and Transportation earlier this year, which warned that there may be a loss of funding in the federal immigration enforcement failure or diversity, equity and inclusion programs. One such letter from Dafi dated on 24 April, as the Newarark Airport faced major technical issues. “I want the secretary Dafi to work on the ground to ensure that the aircraft have to land on the ground on time,” said the Attorney General of New Jersey, Matthew Platkin said, “I want to ensure that the aircraft have to land on the ground on time, not to direct the immigration enforcement.”According to the Reuters of the news agency, the cases argue that the administration is trying to override the Congress’s authority at an illegally federal expenses. New York Attorney General Latitia James described the move as DHS, “kept them hostage by forcing them to choose between disaster preparations and enabling the illegal and chaotic immigration agenda of the administration.”Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell said that the conditions imposed by FEMA had to go beyond their legal rights, given that the Congress had especially allocated funds to help the states prepare and recover from disasters.Meanwhile, Homeland’s Security Secretary Christie Nom, while defending the administration’s stance in his letter, said, “If a government organization selects his nose in the Department of National Security and Public Safety Mission of Homeland Security, he should not get a single dollar of the department’s money until the Congress needs it especially.”The Attorney Generals come from states including California, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey and New York. Michigan AG Dana Nasle said, “These funds are to repair aging roads and bridges, strengthen public safety and ensure law enforcement.“By refunding this already allotted funding, Donald Trump’s White House is giving priority to the political posture on the safety and welfare of Americans.”Road Island AG Peter Neronha called the move a sign of “creeping dictatorialism” and warned, “As a collateral using the safety of Americans, the Trump administration is once again eliminating the Congress illegally.”Conversely, White House spokesman Kush Desai accused the Democratic Attorney General, accused the political theater and said, “Americans would be better if this Democrat Attorney General focused on prosecuting criminals … rather than playing political games.”
