Kyiv: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that on Tuesday, Ukrainian soldiers caught two Chinese citizens fighting with the Russian forces, saying that Kiev would demand a clarification from Beijing and a response from his colleagues.
Moscow and Beijing have deepened relations since the attack on Ukraine on Russia on 2022 February.
“Our army captured two Chinese citizens, fought in the Russian Army. It was in the Donnetsk region in the region of Ukraine,” Zelancesi said. “We have documents of these prisoners, bank cards and personal data,” Zelanski said in a post that included a video of one of the alleged prisoners. “I have instructed Ukraine’s Foreign Minister to immediately contact Beijing and find out how China is going to respond to it.”
There was no immediate response to Moscow or Beijing. China presents itself as a neutral party in the struggle and says it is not sending fatal assistance on both sides, unlike Western countries. But it is a close aide of Russia AFP
