15 crew members away from Kerala coast trapped as a container ship; On rescue opes | Bharat News

New Delhi: A Liberia-Flagged container vessel, MSC ELSA 3, soon began to bow down after leaving the Vizinjam port on Saturday, leading to a major rescue operation by the Indian Coast Guard.The incident occurred at a distance of about 38 nautical miles from the coast of Kochi, seeking immediate help.The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) immediately raised resources and is currently coordinating rescue operations. The vessels are deployed in the area and the aircraft are maintaining aerial inspection of the distressed vessel.Nine of the 24 crew members have left the ship and currently are in life -chills. Efforts are on to rescue members for the remaining 15 crew members. News agency ANI said that the ICG aircraft has dropped additional Liferaft near the vessel for assistance in withdrawal.In coordination with the Indian coast guard, the Director General of Shipping has issued instructions to the managers of shipping to arrange immediate disposal services. Officers are closely monitoring the situation to prevent any loss of life or environmental damage.
