Japanese actor Kapti Yamaguchi says that the bond between Japan and India is a precious and people from both sides should cherish it, which is known for its voice playing a role in the popular anime series globally, “One piece“. Yamaguchi, who gives voice to the fictional character Usopp in the franchise created by Eyichiro Oda, said that India is a powerful country similar to the world of a long -running Japanese show.
The “one piece” can really smile everyone, and I think it’s the same in India and of course, in the US and even Europe. I have been able to experience this for myself by visiting various places.
“I felt that India was a very powerful country, an exciting country, and I myself grew up to love this country, but by the fact that the people of this country are supporting ‘One Peace’, I think it is a country that is powerful as a ‘one piece’ world,” Yamaguchi told PTI in an interview.
The actor was recently in India with his “One Peace” co-star Hiroki Hirta for the Mumbai Comic Con 2025.
The series, which has been in the air since 1999, a boy, who is a boy, inadvertently attained the qualities of rubber after eating a devil fruit. Along with his crew, Straw Hat Pirates, Lafi, discovered the grand line in search of the world’s last treasure known as “One Peace” to become the next king of the pirates.
Hirata, who gives voice to Sunji in the show, said that he is happy to see “One Peace” recognized in India.
“I heard it was really popular all over the world, but I only experienced it real when I went to America and saw how enthusiasts fans were. Therefore, as KP said, when people of countries like India get excited, the power they show are incredible …” He said.
While Yamaguchi and Hirta have now been voicing the characters of Usopp and Sanji for 25 years, both actors originally auditioned for the essay Luffy and Roronoa Zoro.
Mayumi Tanaka and Kazuya Nakai finally voiced the roles of Lafi and Jorro respectively.
Yamaguchi said that he had played a USOP -like role ever before, a member of Straw Hat Pirates who serve as his sniper.
“I was really worried for the first time. But now I have been 25 years to work with the character, I am able to do it now. I think the character of the USOPP has already become familiar to me, at the point where I wonder what my initial concerns were …
He said, “The character has changed a lot (over years), because I have been able to put my own feelings and various aspects of myself more and more. I think he is probably the character that I have the most freedom now,” he said.
He said that Voice in “One Peace” has “a major impact” on Yamaguchi.
“The fact that I can feel happy to be able to work on this series is the biggest thing of all. We have been given a wonderful gift as the ‘One Peace’ series, which brings a smile on people’s faces and allows them to talk to each other.”
Hirata said that Yamaguchi was already a famous voice actor, but he was unknown before joining the artists of “One Peace”.
“So, when I got the role of Sunji in ‘One Peace’, my life completely changed. When I was chosen as Sunji, the ‘one piece’ fans did not know who I was,” he said.
